About healthcheckpln

A free, open calculator for how long a container takes to be marked unhealthy — or restarted.

Docker and Kubernetes healthchecks share a hidden question: given interval, timeout, retries and start-period (or periodSeconds / failureThreshold / initialDelaySeconds), how many seconds until a broken container is caught? The common rule of thumb, interval × retries, ignores the timeout and the start-period and is usually wrong.

healthcheckpln simulates the documented state machine for a continuously-failing target, reports best- and worst-case time, draws every probe on a timeline, and flags smells (timeout ≥ interval, no start-period, retries = 1). Static page — nothing you paste is uploaded.
